Corrosion management in the Oil and Gas Industry
CorrMagnet's continuing education program is accredited by the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC).
This unique 2-day course describes industry best practices that progressively reduced the corrosion incidence frequency from over 3 per 1,000 kms per year 25 years ago to the current incidence frequency of less than 0.5 per 1,000 kms per year. This course discusses methods to estimate corrosion cost and provides tools to decrease both corrosion risk and cost of corrosion. This course will lead participants towards zero corrosion incidences in the oil and gas industry and towards savings of up to 30 % of their current cost of corrosion
Who should attend?
- Corrosion professionals in the middle management positions in the oil and gas industry.
- Non-corrosion professionals in the oil and gas industry whose role include corrosion and integrity management.
- Junior corrosion professionals wanting to understand core principles on how oil and gas industry manages corrosion risk.
Fee includes
- "Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry", S. Papavinasam, Elsevier (2013), eBook ISBN: 9780123973061, 1,020 pages.
- PDF version of technical presentations
- 50 effective Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that are effectively used to identify and resolve corrosion issues and their benchmark scores (developed based on worldwide projects).
- Worksheet on developing corrosion management program (including cost estimate) that participants use throughout the class.
- Registration of Professional Development Hours (PDH) or Continuous Education Unit (CDU) with EIC.
Course schedule (See Events page for a particular course schedule)
- 12 hours of teaching over 2 days.
Course outcomes
Upon completion of the course the participants will be able to:
- Manage and reduce the corrosion risk of their oil and gas infrastructures.
- Estimate, optimize, and reduce cost of corrosion.
- Effectively supervise and lead team of corrosion and integrity professionals.
- Articulate corrosion cost Vs. benefit.
- Receive official record of 12 PDH or 1.2 CDU.
End of course evaluation
- Assignment written by participants using actual field data
- Ability of participants to identity and collect data, and use them appropriately
- Ontime submission of assignment (Assignments are due within 30-days) from the date of completion of the course.
